FAQs
Pave or a solitaire for a one carat diamond necklace?
Choose pave for shimmer across a surface and a solitaire for one bright point. Pave spreads the carat over many small stones, so it lies flat, layers easily and catches light as you move; a solitaire puts the whole weight into one diamond that people notice first. If the wearer loves a classic single stone, compare the one carat solitaire necklaces.
Does platinum hold pave stones better than gold?
Platinum is the denser metal, and when scratched it forms a patina rather than losing metal, so its beads keep their bulk well. 14k gold is also a strong choice because it is harder and more scratch resistant than 18k. Either holds pave securely when well made, so choose by color and by how much weight you like on the neck.
