Certification & Report
Cut:
You’ve selected a 1.40 carat Round natural diamond. 0% of our users choose round diamonds. Learn more about them here.
Cut is the most important factor. When an experienced gemologist picks up a diamond grading report, their eyes go to very specific values. They are looking to see if these fall within the desired ranges. Seemingly unimportant values like the depth percentage have a large effect on how your diamond will sparkle - and these values differ for each shape.
Follow the checklist prepared by our gemologists to see how your diamond fares. If it misses by a little bit on one or two, that’s fine, but we recommend trying to find a stone that passes on all:
| Property | Target | Diamond |
|---|---|---|
Cut | Excellent | Excellent |
Symmetry | Very Good or better | Excellent |
Polish | Very Good or better | Excellent |
Girdle Percentage | 2.5% - 4% | 3.5% |
Girdle Thickness | Thin to Thick | Thin - Med. |
Table | 54% - 60% | 57.0% |
Depth | 59% - 63% | 63.0% |
Crown Angle | 33° - 35° | 36.5° |
Color:
Your 1.40 carat Round natural diamond is graded D color (Colorless), and you can read more about D color diamonds here.
Color is graded beginning with D (Colorless). Learn more about diamond color here. The market prices colorless diamonds higher as they are rarer, but some people prefer warmer colored stones.
Our gemologists check for following color issues before recommending a diamond:
| Property | Target | Diamond |
|---|---|---|
Color | K-D | D |
Artificial Treatment | No | No |
Fluorescence Color | None or Blue | Blue |
Fluorescence Strength | Faint or less | Medium |
Clarity:
Your 1.40 carat Round natural diamond is graded VVS2 clarity, which stands for Very Very Slightly Included 2. Read more about VVS2 clarity diamonds here, or learn more about diamond clarity in general here.
There are minimum clarities our gemologists prefer for each shape, but beyond that clarity is a matter of budget and preference. People typically aim for an eye clean stone. Also, our gemologists have certain deal-breakers when it comes to clarity. For example, our gemologists always avoid stones with a cavity, because with one wrong hit your diamond can crack.
Use the checklist below to ensure your diamond passes. Consult us before purchasing to see if any other nuanced issues are present:
| Property | Target | Diamond |
|---|---|---|
Clarity | SI2 or above | VVS2 |
Cavity | No | No |
Chip | No | No |
Knot | No | No |
Laser Hole | No | No |
Etch Channel | No | No |
Patch | No | No |

This whole process was simple. I'm dumb, and did my research on diamonds. When it came to picking the right one though, I still doubted myself. I used one of the chat helpers after I picked my diamond. She came through and found a better and bigger one for me at the a lesser cost. I used the credit system to pay for it and had it delivered to a Fed Ex. The packaging was beautiful and the ring is gorgeous. I'm pretty sure my girlfriend snooped and saw it hidden in my closet though. To make her regret this, I have been dropping forks at nice restaurants we have been going to. Then I jump out of my seat and drop to my one knee. I pull a rag out my pocket to clean the fork while on one knee. I hold out the fork while I clean it so it has the perfect light on it. I just look bewildered as she thinks something more than my fork getting cleaned is coming. "Oh no, baby. This is just a $300 steak dinner. Nothing special is coming from this but the perfectly aged ribeye I ordered." Then when she gets complacent, I'm going to take her to Denny's. I will pop the question there as I put the 3.25 carat, emerald cut diamond in her ranch and she finds it. That will teach her to snoop, but if she says "yes" after all this, I'm the real winner. The ring is beautiful though and "shines like a diamond in a hog's ass," as my father would say. Rare Carat is legit and did a great job and I highly recommend them. I posted some pics of the ring along with a picture of our cat high on cat nip.
Wow, just wow. To date, this has hands down been the best customer care experience I’ve ever had. What could have easily turned into a disaster was handled with such professionalism and care that Rare Carat transformed it into a positive, reassuring, and genuinely enjoyable experience. Add to that their competitive pricing, top-notch customer service, quick processing times, and an incredibly user-friendly website, it’s clear why they're so highly rated. A special thank you to Paul, who was outstanding from start to finish. When FedEx caused an unexpected delay, he personally stepped in and worked with me directly to keep everything on course. He even reached out after business hours on his personal phone to make sure the situation was being handled properly. That level of care and accountability is rare. I also connected several times with Stephanie through the online chat, and she was equally impressive. She was friendly, responsive, and genuinely helpful every time. No canned replies or long wait times, just prompt, professional support whenever I needed clarification (which, admittedly, was often). The only bump in the road was the FedEx delay which was completely outside of Rare Carat’s control. What truly stood out, though, was how proactive their team was. They closely tracked the shipment and even offered alternative solutions to ensure I received the diamond before flying back to Europe. They treated my proposal timeline with the same urgency and importance that I did, and that meant everything. It’s no mystery why they have so many 5-star reviews, they’ve earned every single one. And yes… she said yes. 💍 Thank you, Rare Carat, for helping make one of the biggest moments of my life absolutely perfect. PS. thanks for the extra gift :)
I was not prepared for this level of customer service and timeliness. Just wow! The emails are monitored and answered by real humans. The shipping is very fast and the product packaging is truly gift quality. I’ve taken pictures of these lab diamonds in<br>multiple lighting and they are returning the light as well as all of my natural diamonds. These are 2ctw rose gold screw back and 1/3 ctw platinum guardian back. I actually could have stood to go 1.5ctw instead to match the size of other natural diamond pieces but I’m not mad at these. They offer a great standalone profile for work and elevating daily looks. I will be back at my next milestone moment :) what a treat!
