Learn about your diamond

You’ve selected a 3.31 carat emerald lab diamond. 0% of our users choose emerald diamonds. Learn more about them here.

Cut is the most important factor. When an experienced gemologist picks up a diamond grading report, their eyes go to very specific values. They are looking to see if these fall within the desired ranges. Seemingly unimportant values like the depth percentage have a large effect on how your diamond will sparkle - and these values differ for each shape.

Follow the checklist prepared by our gemologists to see how your diamond fares. If it misses by a little bit on one or two, that’s fine, but we recommend trying to find a stone that passes on all:

Your 3.31 carat emerald lab diamond is graded G color (Near Colorless), and you can read more about G color diamonds here.

Color is graded beginning with D (Colorless). Learn more about diamond color here. The market prices colorless diamonds higher as they are rarer, but some people prefer warmer colored stones.

Your 3.31 carat emerald lab diamond is graded SI1 clarity, which stands for Slightly Included 1. Read more about SI1 clarity diamonds here, or learn more about diamond clarity in general here.

There are minimum clarities our gemologists prefer for each shape, but beyond that clarity is a matter of budget and preference. People typically aim for an eye clean stone. Also, our gemologists have certain deal-breakers when it comes to clarity. For example, our gemologists always avoid stones with a cavity, because with one wrong hit your diamond can crack.

Use the checklist below to ensure your diamond passes. Consult us before purchasing to see if any other nuanced issues are present:

A diamond's carat weight is determined by its size, with larger diamonds weighing more. Learn more about carat here.
However, it's important to note that carat weight is not the same as size, as other factors such as depth and shape can also impact how large a diamond appears.

Rare carat took the guess work out of the whole process and made the journey of purchasing an engagement ring super easy! The ring showed up in one piece and in pristine condition with secure protective measures to keep everything safe. I would highly recommend rare carat to anyone who is trying to buy a ring discreetly to pull off the perfect surprise and/or for those that have busy schedules that don’t have time to go about an engagement ring purchase the traditional way.

Absolutely wonderful service and the jewelry is well made. Just today we got my band that matches my engagement ring (Boda pave band, 2mm and engagement ring, 6 prong, 2mm, both in platinum) and the service email responds promptly. We had the diamonds alternated with amethyst as a special request, and they consulted the jeweler and gemologist and found a way. Even gave advice on style, suck as not to do eternity style because amethyst is a softer stone. It's absolutely gorgeous. I love it. Will definitely recommend them.

Super easy to work with. It was great to be able to track where my purchase was during the entire creating/shipping process. And she absolutely loved the way the ring came together. "Stunning"

What a phenomenal company! I have been blessed with the opportunity to run several very large businesses and have a great appreciation of how difficult it is to provide a customer experience that far exceeds expectations but these folks nailed it. I purchased a new ring for my wife for our 50th anniversary and was incredibly impressed with the knowledgeable, personable and professional service that we received every step of the way. BTW, the ring is spectacular!

My fiancé wanted a diamond cut they don’t typically sell. Rare Carat worked with me and sourced the cut she wanted. Everything was super simple and smooth. I’d definitely recommend using them. The ring came out perfectly.

At first I was skeptical, but once I did my research then I felt totally confident. I got an engagement ring from this company and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out!!
